Caldwell Banker ad in the SF Chronicle

Posted in california, real estate at 11:51 pm by realestatecash

In the real estate pullout of the Sunday Chronicle, there is a 2 page ad from Caldwell Banker. The basic message is don’t panic, real estate is still a good long term investment. I agree with the message .. but find it scary that they felt if necessary to pay for such a ad.

blogrush widget removed

Posted in random musings at 6:02 am by realestatecash

A couple of weeks ago I attempted to add a blogrush widget to my blog. For those of you who don’t know, the idea behind blogrush was that it was a virual way to link similar blogs to each other. It was a rather ugly widget that would have looked awkward with the theme I was using.  But I was willing to give it a try.  Cool idea. Too bad it didn’t work.

I spent over an hour trying to get the blogrush widget to work. The javascript code kept getting blanked out. It looked Ok, but my suspicion is that that the blogrush javascript code was not compatible with the Ocadia theme that I was using.  I was not willing to dive into the HTML code of the theme to try and make it work. Nor was I willing to change my theme unless I had a suitable replacement. I sent several emails to their customer support asking for help.

No response at all. So I’ve removed it.

Make us an offer

Posted in florida, real estate at 4:03 am by realestatecash

We have a condo under contract that we don’t want to keep.  Why?  I’ve decided that I’m not moving to Florida.  I just have too much going on here.   The good news is that there is equity in this condo and it is in a very sweet project.  This one will do well over the long term.

I firmly believe that if this style of living is not the way of the future, it should be.  With the price of gas going up and people looking for community, living in a mixed residential and commercial upscale developments with natural gathering spots such as coffee shops is going to be the wave of the future.

Check it out and make us an offer.

Can the builders speed up the cycle out of the downturn?

Posted in real estate at 11:39 pm by realestatecash

Interesting article in Business Week regarding the housing market. The builders are slashing prices to clear out inventory, will that speed up the cycle? The comment I found worth mentioning is that this is the first time that the builders/developers are big enough to be an economic force, previously they just had to ride out the downturns like anyone else, now by taking this aggressive move they might be able to shape the future.
